Women’s HHH Report
It was an AWESOME race in Wichita Falls!!! We all stayed in with the pack to the
end....and we were a presence there in the pack!! With 6 members attending, we think
we were the team with the most members represented! Although we attempted some
breakaways we were not successful. Attack, attack, attack! Go Velo!!!
We are so proud of all of us! Kristin placed 7th overall....and finished right in front of
two very tough riders from OK. She also finished ahead of the two women that placed
2nd and 3rd in last year's race! Go Kristin!
Lisa and Tracy both did an amazing job finding a good position in that big pack, both
first timers at the HHH!
Tamie Sanders shaved something like 12 minutes (or more...) off of her race time from
last year. Tamie, you looked so strong during the last 12 miles, picking your way up
toward the front of that pack!
And Donna scored major style points from me when I watched her refill the bottle in her
front bottle cage with the extra bottle in her back pocket---on the fly, no less!---and then
pitched the extra bottle in the politically correct location of the feed zone! Talk about
some bike handling skills!! Donna, you also gave Tracy the courage and encouragement
to move to a spot closer to the front of the pack...what a team member!
Leslie had set the goal for herself to stay with the pack till the end....and it was such a
thrill to see us, after the turn from Dean into WF, all lined up, all still IN....what a great
day!! For most of us it was a personal best, on average speed, time for a 100K of
21mph. We were each happy with my own rides and that of the team as a whole.
We all learned a lot and are already talking about how to race better and smarter next
year.
What a great day it was....We are all so thrilled to be a part of a team of such amazing
women!! It was a blast.
